The Rove-ing Truth

The Democrats think they have it. They have all the proof they need to bring down the Bush administration. Yet all they really have is a White House Staffer that offered a little too much advice to a reporter. Because when it really comes down to it, made up stories are much better than real facts.

The man in question is Karl Rove. He may be responsible for inadvertently leading the press to the identity to a CIA employee. The problem, he never mentioned her name, and the reporter he talked to never did the story. So how exactly can you blame someone for not giving up the identity but correcting a story?

Rove was discussing Welfare Reform with Matt Cooper, New York Times reporter, after Cooper had set up the interview. At the end of the story, Cooper asked about why Vice President Cheney had sent Joe Wilson to investigate Yellow Cake in Niger. He corrected Cooper by stating that he understood his wife sent him.

Now, where in that statement does Valerie Plame appear, and where in that statement does the words "CIA operative" appear? The answer, they don't. And now the left wingers thing they have proof that he did it on purpose. The following memo only substantiates Rove's claims that he did nothing wrong, yet the left calls this the smoking gun.

So here is the truth. The liberals in America don't want the truth. They want stories that sound good but have no substance. Like the Downing Street Memo, and now the story of Karl Rove, they would rather have falsehoods and fallacies rather that proof and facts. Rove messed up. He should have never corrected Cooper when asked about Wilson's trip. Let the left media print it. It can all be repudiated later. Should Rove resign or be fired? Yes. But not for making a security risk, or treason, or for some other alleged crime, but for simply thinking that he could reason with our press. They can't print facts. They scan or rove for the truth, but print lies instead.
