Pointing Fingers

Posted by Craig

After viewing my friend's post over at his website Political Notio, I had to check out the link to House of Scandal. And I have to admit, the liberals have managed to do something I would have thought was being their evolutionary scale; work together.

Don't get me wrong, they still aren't doing anything productive, but it may be a move in a direction we haven't seen them try in a long time now. The House of Scandal site is merely another smear site for the liberals, much like the MoveOn.org site of the presidential election. Their claims, albeit rooted in some truth, are far too outlandish for what I thought the kool-aid drinking liberals would believe; but again they surprised me.

House of Scandal actually tries to paint DeLay as a man with the power of God. He was responsible for the Enron scandal, duped everyone in the Congress, and even raised gas prices! I guess with the sort of logic, I could blame little Mary down the street for the rise in price for Girls Scout cookies this year. I mean, she is a member of that corrupt society bent on making sure everyone pays too much for cookies.

The White House finally came out in a sign of support for DeLay. Although Bush and DeLay haven't always seen eye to eye on a number of things, DeLay is pivotal in helping Bush sell his policies. However, Bush knows how to distance himself from a sinking ship, as evident in the sinking of Trent Lott in 2002. Although Bush would like DeLay to remain where he is, don't expect Bush to pick up his fight.

The truth seems to be this, Democrats are bent on what DeLay calls "the politics of personal destruction, and the criminalization of politics." I have left several posts as various places in blogoshpere that if the Democrats are unhappy with the way things are, change it at the polls. Come up with an idea to sell your ideas, beliefs, and policies to the people. The personal attacks are not working, and even appear to be backfiring as Republicans gained more seats in the Congress as well as a the Bush winning a second term amongst the bombardment of hate speech thrown at him the previous two years.

Electing Howard Dean to the be the head of the DNC probably will do nothing to change their current execution of the political battles, but it does show a sign of desperation. They know what they have been doing is not working, but instead of changing it, they decided it needs to be more focused. Attacking the policies of an opponent is not only fair, it's necessary. But attacking the individuals merely for personally while stinging together untruths, is simply not a good policy to follow.

  1. I love when Republicans complain about politics of personal destruction. Karma, it always comes around.

This is just the beginning of the smear campaigns. It's going to get a lot worse. House of Scandal is moderate compared to what's going to happen. Better buckle your nerves down, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Politics is always personal. It's always been that way. It's not going to change now because neocons claim it's unholy to disagree with them.

The Republican Party has to distance itself from the neocons if it wants to survive. It might take a few years, but eventually they will figure this out.
