This past weekend, John Kerry spoke at an event sponsored by the Massachusetts League of Women Voters. In his speech he stated that “Last year too many people were denied their right to vote, too many who tried to vote were intimidated.” So is John Kerry calling the voters in America stupid? I didn’t hear of many thugs awaiting potential voters, especially of the Democratic persuasion, to intimidate those voters from coming in. In fact nothing like that happened. So what is his reasoning?
Kerry says that "Leaflets [were] handed out saying Democrats vote on Wednesday, Republicans vote on Tuesday. People [were] told in telephone calls that if you've ever had a parking ticket, you're not allowed to vote." And who do he and the liberal media point to as to causing these actions, the Bush administration and the Republicans.
Unlike the Democrats, Republicans do not need to spread lies to potential voters. I don’t agree with those phone call and leaflets if they were handed out, but you can’t blame George W. Bush. For decades voting has been on Tuesday, despite party affiliation, why would anyone believe otherwise? Believe me; people who didn’t vote due to receiving a leaflet that told them to vote on Wednesday weren’t planning on voting anyway.
In the article Kerry Cites Voter Intimidation Examples, the author of the article writes the following;
“Kerry has never disputed the outcome of election, saying voting irregularities did not involve enough votes to change the result. Bush won the pivotal state of Ohio by 118,000 votes, giving him enough electoral votes to win re-election.”What this reads to me, is that he believes that if these leaflets hadn’t been passed out, and had Kerry contested, (never mind that they did bring a lawsuit in Ohio that was dismissed regarding voting irregularities), that we may have had a different result. What it really sounds like to me is that we will have four more years of Democrats crying about the illegitimate defeat by George W. Bush.
But here is the real kicker; Gore’s defeat came at the hands of the archaic and unreliable Electoral College. Gore won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College, so the Democrats contend he should be president. In the 2004 election, Bush won the popular vote, so you would think Democrats would be satisfied. But no, the Electoral College, especially in Ohio, could overturn the election if only 30,000 votes had been cast for Kerry, the same 30,000 that were “intimidated” against voting. So, instead of accepting defeat and find ways to win in 2008, the Democrats choose to blame Bush, make false accusations, and even attempt to allow disenfranchised voters the opportunity to vote.
So when 2008 rolls around and a Democrat again loses, look to read the morning news the following day as all the voters will be fingered as stupid. Because who else can they blame?
