All The Small Things

Oh this country of mine. As I sit here and write whatever it is that I please and post for the world to see, I can’t help but think of all the places in the world that people do not have that solemn right. I can make posts of how my president can’t speak proper English or formulate a complete sentence. I can make posts of how my president has with Iraq botched one of the most important foreign policy initiatives embarked since WWII. I can sit here in my heated $100,000 home and do whatever makes me happy. And in a way, all of this, everything, makes me forget about all the opportunity that exists in this great nation.

Why is it that if you don’t agree with something you have to evilize it? Is it the modern push-button world that we live in that makes us all yearn for everything our way? I don’t like George W. Bush. I don’t like his story. I don’t like his politics. Everything he does is his way or no way. His silver-spoon mentality is obvious with his actions and speech. He has always had his way. Everything that he has ever wanted is his. Yet, just as much as I don’t realize how great I have it, Bush doesn’t realize all that has been handed to him. Not that I’m anywhere near his worth, I’m just not sure I understand how someone with so much doesn’t understand all the small things that make up this country.

I don’t know the first thing about invading and occupying a country. I don’t even know the last thing about invading and occupying a country. What I do know is that if there is a right way to invade and occupy a country we haven’t found it yet- and there’s a big IF there. Our troops bear this burden. We can sit here all day and talk about how it’s the taxpayers’ burden when Bush decides to unapologetically alter the world order. But I would give every dime I have to those who fight and die so that I can sit here and write how wrong I think everything is.

All the bloggers have all the answers. Ask them they’ll tell ya. I’m not just writing this about me, it’s about you too. These blogs are the most fundamental form of freedom of speech. It’s freedom at its core. So to all of us who write what we feel, I must admit that we take for granted so many of the things that we chastise. So it’s with great pride I say, America with all thy faults! God I love this country.
